VP – Corporate Facilities, Services & Real Estate
Jim Young currently serves as Marriott International’s Vice President of Corporate Facilities, Services and Real Estate. He has represented the company’s local interests in traffic, sustainability, and energy issues by working with local and state government agencies. He assumes leadership for the company’s sustainable initiatives at Headquarters and among the numerous progressive and inventive programs he has implemented the most significant is the achievement of LEED-EB Gold certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). His organization of 185 people provides a safe, comfortable and productive environment for over 3,500 associates working in over one million square feet at Marriott’s Headquarters’ campus just outside Washington, DC. Currently, much of his energy and attention is focused on transforming Marriott’s workplace to match the changing landscape, technology and workforce of the next 20 years.
Jim first joined Marriott in 1983 and for the next 20 years worked in hotel operations for Marriott as well as several Marriott franchisees and competitors. He has experience in the full service, limited service and conference center segments of the industry. With degrees in education and business, prior to working in the hospitality industry Jim has experience teaching, in construction, and in the consumer products distribution industry. He returned to Marriott in 2003 in his current capacity. Jim serves on several economic and traffic advisory councils and is currently the Chair of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
